Exploring how to enable life-long employment from a Social Enterprise perspective

The 2018 National Employment Solutions Conference will be held at Twin Towns Services Club, Tweed Heads, NSW over the 8th – 9th October.

The conference provides the opportunity to be involved through presenting, learning, engaging, networking and collaborating with other professionals within the employment sector.

Joining us at the conference is Mr Toby Whittington, CEO of Green World Evolution who will present on ‘Exploring how to enable life-long employment from a Social Enterprise perspective’.

Toby Whittington

As CEO of Green World Revolution (GWR), Toby Whittington will explore how GWR is enabling long-term unemployed people to take an active role in their own development and transition from a reliance on social welfare to life-long, sustainable employment.

Toby will present a Social Outcomes Incubator Business Model to replace activity centric Work For The Dole programs. This Model has been developed by GWR over six years of growing jobs for the unemployed on urban farms in Western Australia.

As the founding CEO of Green World Revolution (GWR), Toby Whittington has been involved with the supervision of over 300 Work for the Dole (WFD) participants since 2013. With a background in operating two small business enterprises for over 20 years, Toby has extensive experience in design, construction, manufacturing and supervising staff. His lifetime interest and involvement in environmental and sustainability activities led him to establishing GWR as a not-for-profit social enterprise developing urban farms, to provide long-term unemployed with sustainable employment. Toby’s hands-on involvement with all aspects of GWR’s urban farming activities includes horticulture planning and construction of infrastructure that has taken GWR’s Gladstone Street Urban Farm from a vacant gravel covered block, to a thriving urban farm supplying over 30 of Perth’s top restaurants.
