In southern Adelaide, Baptist Care’s Building Family Opportunities team provide whole-of-life assistance to families experiencing challenges from long-term unemployment.  This paper describes the relationship between job seeker resilience, the interactions with personal (belief systems), environmental (resources) factors, and success of goal pursuit and attainment.  Our analysis of service delivery data, examined the relational practice of the service model for 73 families across intake, exit, review, resiliency and goal data systems.  Two key findings expose the vulnerability of resilience and goal attainment to client profiles (their own rating of life’s meaningfulness, self-belief, community group participation, vocational training) and case management intervention.

The 3rd Annual Australian Long-Term Unemployment Conference will be held this week on the 1 – 2 December 2016 at the Mercure Brisbane. This year’s theme is Finding Solutions and focuses on business working together with employment facilitators and agencies to create positive outcomes for Australia’s long-term unemployed.
